We need elected representatives who are opposed to the vicious cuts that are devastating the lives of millions.

That is why I am standing for election for the Chorlton Ward

Resistance and protest are the only realistic responses to the continual austerity. A better world is possible.

The Coalition government is stuffed full of millionaires. They run the country in the interest of the richest 1% who have seen their share of wealth soar – at the expense of the 99%. Millions of people face further pay and pension cuts, job loses, and the loss of services.

We did not expect anything else from the party of Maggie Thatcher. No one has ever trusted the Tories with our National Health Service. They want to cut it to the bone. Andrew Lansley’s Health Bill is about chopping up and privatising our health service. Their plans must be defeated.

Protest against Vince Cable

Lib Dem promises were shredded when they joined the Tories, supported University Tuition Fees of £9,000, and scrapped EMA grants. They lied. No one will ever trust them again.

Labour should be offering an alternative to Tory cuts. But the only promise Labour has made is that they will not promise to reverse a single cut.

In Manchester the Labour Council have – ‘reluctantly’ – passed on the Tory cuts. Labour says they have ‘no alternative’ but to shed more and more jobs, and to cut more and more services.

But Labour could use some of the financial reserves to prevent some cuts.

Sure Start mums won

£ millions were thrown to the businesses with an expensive I Love Manchester campaign following the riots last year.

They always seem to find the money to help the business and tourism.

Sure Start mums had to wage a year long campaign to win a reversal of Council decision to close the service.

Council leaders are silent about banks like Barclays who pay them selves massive bonuses, and companies like Vodaphone who avoid paying taxes. These are the real ‘welfare scroungers’ that take money for nothing. Not a word of criticism for them.

Labour closed the entire Youth Service and then there were riot

The youth of Manchester receive no such welcome. The entire Youth Service, all 34 youth clubs have been closed down. Promises made of ‘alternative providers’ remain just that. Promises. There is no profit to be made from youth services.

Resistance and protest is the only realistic response to the continual austerity.

I am standing for the Council seat in Chorlton in order to help build the resistance that is necessary to stop the cuts. From the revolution in Egypt, to the mass strikes in Greece, & the Occupy movement in the USA – people have joined movements of mass resistance across the world.

In the last year Britain we has seen the biggest strikes and protests in generations. Millions have taken strike action in defence of pensions. Millions have Marched for an Alternative to the cuts.
